Quick Draw: Overindulgent Squirrel
This guy has been terrorizing the pumpkins on our street the past week. Much to my children's horror, we watched him systematically eat the face off of our neighbor's jack-o-lantern first, before leaving nothing but a few scraps of the shell behind.
I have not failed.

Quick Sketch: My Child's Halloween Costume (in theory)
My seven year old is really (REALLY) into Black Holes. He loves everything about them and can tell you pretty much all you've ever wanted (or not wanted) to know about them. He respects the theory of White Holes too, but agreed for his Halloween costume this year he would stick to what is a proven astronomical occurrence.
I am still trying to work out the logistics on his costume. I'm envisioning a wire frame, wrapped in fabric (space time fabric, if you will). How I'm going to keep it from impairing his vision and movement or falling off of him completely is still a mystery. I'm not a betting woman, but if I had to wager I would say it will require lots and lots and LOTS of duct tape.

The Five Elements of Ayurveda
These lovely little ladies are part of a recent project I did for a yoga therapist. She wanted to personify the five elements of Ayurveda for a series of business cards.

Winter is coming...
Even though the weather today is sunny and a high of 90, I've been noticing more dead leaves on the ground when I run. This concerns me. Dead leaves mean Fall is upon us and wasn't it just yesterday it was the first day of summer??
For the record, I have nothing against Fall. I love Autumn (and Autumns in Colorado cannot be beat—truly!). It's what comes AFTER Fall that has me full of dread. Winter is coming people... Sure, it might still be a few months off but it's coming and I dread it.
Sometimes I need to remind myself.

I can't even talk about it...

Collaboration with My Seven Year Old; Finale
The exciting conclusion of "A Boy and His Sandwich"! We've had so much fun working on this together, we just might make it our thing. Thanks for following along this week. :)

Only one more day left...
Collaboration with My Seven Year Old; Day 2
Introducing, a Collaboration with My Seven Year Old
This past weekend, I finally got around to organizing the boy's school stuff from the previous year(s), just in time for this school year! While looking through various notebooks and papers and pictures I found my youngest cub's first grade writing journal. I stumbled upon a funny little entry which I decided to illustrate in a four day series, much to my 7 year old's delight. So I give you..."A Boy and His Sandwich." Written word-for-word by S.L.J, age 7 and illustrated by his mother L.A.J. age not 7.
Come back tomorrow for the next installment!
